People In Harmony With Nature: SANParks Hosts Transformative Vision 2040 Indaba
Following extensive consultations which resulted in the drafting of a strategic framework that will inform implementation, South African National Parks (SANParks) is now proud to announce the inaugural Vision 2040 Indaba, which will take place at Running Waters in Gqeberha from 3 to 5 September 2025. This landmark event marks a pivotal moment that is designed to realise a co-owned inclusive, future-oriented and transformative conservation agenda.
The Vision 2040 Indaba will bring together key stakeholders across government, farming communities, academia, civil society, sponsors, donors, the private sector, land claimant communities, conservation partners and youth representatives. The Indaba is intended to foster meaningful dialogue and forge collaborative actions that will advance the implementation of Vision 2040 – a bold strategy that advocates for a people-centred, conservation-driven agenda that will ensure collaborative thrivability between biodiversity conservation, social justice and economic empowerment.
As custodians of some of South Africa’s valued natural and cultural heritage, SANParks believes in a future of a conservation that embodies meaningful participation and ownership of all sectors of society. The Vision 2040 Indaba is a rallying call of action for different role players to shape and jointly commit towards this destiny.
